The meeting between the President of the District Local Government Organization of Larnaka (DLGOL), Angelos Hadjicharalambous, with the President and a delegation of ETEK was particularly constructive, during which important issues of development licensing that have arisen in view of the Local Government Reform, as well as common goals and concerns were discussed.

The meeting specifically discussed proposals and solutions to reduce the number of pending applications, thereby contributing to the efficient operation of the Organisation, as well as to prevent the development of illegal buildings due to untimely examination. Mr. Hadjicharalambous also noted that the grouping of applications has already started and a plan for their management has been prepared.

With regard to the “Hippodamus” system, there was a common understanding that there are several operational problems which should be solved immediately, while ensuring support to the Organisation’s officials and their access to the Government Data Warehouse (Department of Lands and Surveys).

The President of DLGOL agreed with the need to open the communication between surveyors and DLGOL officials, significantly facilitating the work of surveyors, and announced the upcoming operation of the Ticketing system for the purpose of monitoring electronic correspondence and surveyors’ queries. Reference was also made to the need for staffing the Organisation, which requires approval of the budget by the relevant Ministries.

Finally, it was agreed to establish regular meetings for the purpose of exchanging views and suggestions. The President of DLGOL expressed his satisfaction for the outcome of the meeting and assured everyone that the common goal is for the Organisation to provide all the necessary tools, so that everyone from his side can help solve any problems in the direct service of citizens and the development of the City.
