The Larnaca District Local Government Organisation (LDLGO) informs citizens that through the “FixCyprus” mobile phone application they can submit reports on failures (e.g. damage, deterioration, vandalism) and problems concerning the quality of the road network and its related infrastructure (e.g. traffic lights, pavements, signs).
Each report is automatically submitted to the respective District Office of the Department of Public Works, which in turn, through the FixCyprus Management Platform, evaluates and takes the appropriate actions for its repair or assigns it to other competent departments and bodies for similar handling.
Failures and problems in the road network may concern both state services and local administrations (Prefectures, Municipalities and Communities), but also services such as the Cyprus Electricity Authority, the District Local Authorities and Telecommunications Providers. These services have been informed and their representatives have been trained to contribute to the management of the reports through the FixCyprus Management Platform, planning a series of actions aimed at fixing the failures or resolving the reported problems.
Through the FixCyprus Mobile App, citizens are also provided with the possibility to monitor the progress of each report they have submitted, which is displayed in the history of reports within the App. Citizens can also find out the response statistics of all the Competent Authorities so far through the website www.fixcyprus.cy.
The use of the FixCyprus Mobile App has brought about an improvement in the speed of identifying and recording road network failures and problems, planning and repairing them, strengthening communication with citizens and improving the quality of the road network.
The development of the Management Platform and the Application is part of the broader collaboration between the Department of Public Works and the “KIOS” Centre of Excellence to create a digital twin of the road network of the Department of Public Works, which will contribute to the development of intelligent and sustainable transport systems, co-funded by the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.
The FixCyprus Mobile App is available from 27/9/2022 for Android and iOS devices.
