In the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr. Maria Panagiotou and the President of the District Local Government Organization of Larnaka (DLGOL), authorized teams of District Local Government Organization of Larnaka (DLGOL) Larnaka and Water Development Deppartment started their tour in the parish of Drosia, Larnaka. The aim of the tour was to raise awareness among citizens about the serious problem of the prolonged drought on our island, as well as to inform them about the urgent need to save water through proper water management.

During the tour, the teams distributed printed material of the DLGOL, which aims to reduce the wasteful wastage of water by following/implementing specific measures and actions.

At the same time, recommendations were made to residents not to use the hose for the purpose of washing their verandas, while it was explained to them that where and when non-compliance with the Water Conservation (Special Measures) Law is observed, notices will be served and out-of-court notices will be imposed in cases of water waste complaints.

It is noted that the campaign of the DLGOL for water saving and consumer education will be intensified in the coming days and the teams are expected to carry out on-site inspections in a large number of areas of Larnaka and Larnaka district, for the purpose of checking the degree of compliance of citizens with the above Law.
