The District Local Government Organization of Larnaka (DLGOL) informs you that, in the framework of the State’s compliance with the Directive 91/271/EEC on Urban Waste Water and following successive decisions of the Council of Ministers, they have been included within the boundaries of the abolished Larnaka Sewerage and Drainage Board (LSDB), the entire residential area of the Municipalities of Aradippou and Livadia and the Communities of Voroklini and Pyla (Phase D of the Larnaka Sewerage System). The inclusion of these areas within the boundaries of the Larnaka Sewerage Board was considered necessary to improve the quality of life of the affected residents, to reduce the uncontrolled pollution observed in the environment and, above all, to enable the rational development and construction of the necessary sewerage projects in the area.
It is noted that, with the entry into force of the Provincial Self-Government Organizations Act of 2022, the powers of the Larnaka Sewerage Board have been transferred to the DLGOL as of July 1, 2024. Therefore, among other things, the authority to construct and operate a sewerage system in the areas in question is also transferred to the DLGOL.
For the implementation of the Phase D Project, the Ministry Council approved a new policy on state subsidy, according to which the annual sewerage fee to be paid by the users of the sewer will be 0.7 % of the value of the real estate, for a period of 25 years, based on the latest available assessed value of the real estate by the Department of Land Registry and Surveying. The start of the project in these areas is expected within the year 2025.
At the same time, based on the provisions of the current legislation and regulations, the imposition of sewerage fees will also begin. The fees levied by the DLGOL are intended to repay the loans for the installation of pipelines and the construction of the necessary pumping stations, as well as a modern Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The sewerage fee bills have been sent to the affected owners, who are requested to pay them within the specified deadline, at the DLGOL Headquarters, or at the local DLGOL Citizen Service Offices from Monday to Friday 7:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., or online at www.jccsmart.com, or by bank transfer.
