Meeting between the President of the Larnaka District Local Government Organization and a DISY Delegation led by President Annita Demetriou

The President of the Larnaka District Local Government Organization (DLGOL), Mr. Angelos Hadjicharalambous, held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of DISY, Mrs. Annita Demetriou, along with a delegation of the party.

During the meeting, Mr. Hadjicharalambous outlined the main problems and challenges arising from the Local Government Reform, placing particular emphasis on issues related to the licensing sector. He stressed the need for simplification of procedures, with priority given to addressing the complexity of the “Hippodamos” electronic system.

Furthermore, Mr. Hadjicharalambous referred to the management plan for pending cases and the actions undertaken by DLGOL to accelerate the issuance of permits, including the procurement of services, overtime work by the Licensing Directorate staff, and the announcement of four new Licensing Officer positions.

He also noted that the approval of the Organization’s Budget has created the necessary conditions for proper and immediate staffing, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and improving services provided to citizens.

Mrs. Annita Demetriou assured the President of DLGOL of DISY’s full support for the Organization, reaffirming the party’s commitment to ongoing cooperation and engagement with District Local Government Organizations. DISY will support the efforts of DLGOL by responding to its requests and actively contributing to the successful implementation of the Local Government Reform through legislative initiatives and other actions.

The DISY delegation that visited the DLGOL administration offices included the Vice President of DISY, Mr. George Karoullas; the Head of Local Government Affairs and member of the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs, MP Mr. Nikos Sykas; MPs Mr. Efthymios Diplaros and Mr. Prodromos Alampritis; the DISY District Secretary of Larnaka, Mr. Theologos Manolis; the Head of the DISY Municipal Group of Larnaka Municipality, Mr. Andreas Ttaouxiis; as well as other party officials and representatives.
