The District Local Government Organization of Larnaka (DLGOL) is pleased to announce the presentation and signing of the Construction Contract relating to Tender No. SAL 24/2023:
“Flood Protection Works in the Kamares Area of Larnaka”
The Project αφορά the construction of flood protection works in the Kamares area of Larnaka, aiming to safeguard the residential zones of the Municipalities of Larnaka and Aradippou located within the catchment area of the Kalo Chorio River. The Project includes, among others, the following works:
- Channel upstream of Dryadon Street: Demolition of the existing concrete-lined channel and construction of a new open rectangular concrete-lined channel at a lower level, including adaptation of the upstream earthen channel.
- Dryadon Street Bridge: Reconstruction of the bridge with a wider and deeper cross-section.
- Section between Dryadon Street and Limassol Avenue (Zik-Zak): Demolition of the existing concrete-lined channel and construction of a new open rectangular concrete-lined channel along a modified alignment and at a lower level.
- Construction of a new bridge adjacent (to the east) of the existing one at a lower bed level.
- Relocation/reconstruction of Larisis Street closer to Limassol Avenue and construction of a new bridge.
- Construction of an open channel between the bridges of Limassol Avenue and Larisis Street.
- Removal of the embankment/pedestrian walkway upstream of the Kamares Monument and construction of a pile-supported footbridge to ensure unobstructed river flow.
- Shaping of the riverbed at the openings of the Kamares Monument under the supervision and guidance of the Department of Antiquities.
- Construction of a new cul-de-sac at the end of Ellispontou Street.
The Project has an execution period of 30 months and, upon completion, will significantly contribute to the flood protection of Larnaka.
The presentation and signing of the Agreement will take place on Monday, 18 November 2024, at the Creativity and Culture Centre (former Larnaka Club).
The Project is funded by the Republic of Cyprus.
